Ever since this Indian cricket team has lifted its performance in Test as well as ODI's, it is due to more than a handful of people. 5 years ago when the team returned from the World Cup in England, there was no one who could have thought that these many years down the line India will be such a force in both forms of the game.
When there was no potential match winners for India one man used to stand up and take the burden all the time. It was always on his name that one would relate the entire team to. Spectators would leave the stadiums, fans would turn off their TV sets once he would get out. He was known as the 'one man army'.
This man now faces a question mark on his ability. Whatever he has done has all been forgotten. India now have a team comprising of 11 matchwinners. So when they do not perform or fail to cross the final hurdle, fingers point to one man. Sachin Tendulkar!
What is your take on it?

From his past records it is clear that Sachin Tendulkar is a match winner for India when needed. However, it has not always been Sachin who has won matches for India, but he has been there a lot of times when his team needed him the most.
Now India comprises of many players who contributes to the team's cause in any feild (batting, bowling, fielding). In my opinion India is a very unpredictable side. In some matches, even if they have players that adds a balance to the team, they fail to perform to their ability. Thats when the little master has played an important role in the past. In such occasions you will notice that even if one player in the team dosen't contribute much in the batting, Sachin will atleast get a respectible score to get his team out of danger.
All in all Sachin has always been a match winner and still is the biggest match winners in the world.

Sachin has always been a force to reckon with for any team playing against India irrespective of the kind of form he is in. The satisfaction/pleasure that the opposition baller derives out of getting him out speaks volumes about how big a threat Sachin is perceived to be by the opposition team. Sachin has many a times doned the role of a match winner for India. I am not sure how consistently he did that though. In a recent interview, Harsha Bhogle said that Kumble played the role of a match winner for India throughout the 90's. But i wonder if Kumble ever got his due? In any case, Sachin was not able to perform up to his standards on the Australia tour. A lean-patch as they call it in the cricketing world! This gave his critics an opportunity to question his commitment to the sport and what not!!! This kind of treatment/pressure is uncalled for. A few bad performances cannot take away all that Sachin has emassed in his entire career. No one can deny his contribution to Indian (and intl) cricket.....the matches won due to the sheer brilliance of his bat, the entertainment he provided to spectators across the globe, the source of the inspiration he became for all aspiring cricketers in th country... For me, he made cricket worth watching! As our team reaches Pakistan today....heres wishing the Indian team all the very best! Make us proud guys. Kick some butt, Sachin! TEXTTEXTTEXT
